There was a widely bruited-about statistic reported last week, stating that 1 in 4 Americans did not read a single book last year. Clearly, we don’t fall into that category, but . . . how many of our friends do? Do you have friends/family who read as much as you do? Or are you the only person you know who has a serious reading habit?
Answer:
My best friend reads a lot, but it’s mostly non-fiction (not that there’s anything wrong with that, though I’m a fiction gal), and one of my sisters reads quite a bit, too. My husband listens to audio CDs (mostly that I pick out for him!) on his commute, and my children both like to read (even though sometimes it’s forced upon them by homeschooling).
I would say most of the people I know in real life don’t read all that much, though. That’s why I love the book blog community! Friends with a shared love of reading are hard to come by.

I so agree with your last paragraph!!
That has without a doubt been the best thing about blogging. I love finding other people who love books just as much as I do! Who are just as “obsessed” or “passionate” about reading. I love the community aspect of blogging.
And most of all I love getting recommendations from others on what to read next!
Becky and Barbara,
Isn’t it great? I’ve been really blessed this past year with some new online friends.
Both sides of my family read as well as most of my friends. After reading other people’s responses — I’m feeling rather lucky! But I DO love and appreciate the blogging community also. A plethora of readers that I’m enjoying immensily!
I so agree with your last paragraph! Book blogs rules!
Book blogs and online reading groups have been very enabling to my serious reading habit.
I am surrounded by readers in my real life to varying degrees, but none as book crazy as I am.
