BTT – Comfort Food

Okay . . . picture this (really) worst-case scenario: It’s cold and raining, your boyfriend/girlfriend has just dumped you, you’ve just been fired, the pile of unpaid bills is sky-high, your beloved pet has recently died, and you think you’re coming down with a cold. All you want to do (other than hiding under the covers) is to curl up with a good book, something warm and comforting that will make you feel better.

Answer: Probably Jane Eyre, Pride & Prejudice, or something from childhood like Charlotte’s Web or The Chronicles of Narnia. While I do read for comfort at times, if I really feel horrible I’d probably be more apt to go to my movie standbys. See my Thursday Thirteen below for those.

Thursday Thirteen #16

Movies I watch when I’m happy and want to celebrate or when I’m sad and need a pick-me-up. I’ve seen these more than 10 times each!

  1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
  2. Solaris (George Clooney version, although I like the Russian version as well)
  3. Lost in Translation
  4. Hamlet (Ethan Hawke version)
  5. Romeo + Juliet (DiCaprio/Danes version)
  6. Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure
  7. The Princess Bride
  8. The Fellowship of the Ring
  9. A Knight’s Tale
  10. Amadeus
  11. Immortal Beloved
  12. Sleepless in Seattle
  13. Groundhog Day
