Some of us from the classic_lit reading group and the Russian Reading Challenge have combined to form a new yahoo group to read War and Peace over the first few months of 2008.
Here’s the tentative schedule:
January 15 – through Part I
February 15 – through Part II
March 15 – through Part III
April 15 – through Part IV
Discussions will begin on the date listed, and it will be assumed members will have read the specific part listed before that date. Each part is approximately 300 pages.

Oh – this is tempting – particularly with Richard Pevear’s translation coming out. I read his translation of The Three Musketeers last winter and just loved it.
Need to think about this for a little while. I haven’t finalized my Russian Reading Challenge list yet.

I’m going to copy everyone else here and say that does sound very tempting, especially since it would give me a reason to buy that very nice edition. I’ve seen it in the bookstores, and the only think that has kept me from buying it is the guilty knowledge that I already have War and Peace 1 sitting on my bookshelf unread.
