Volume – BTT

Would you say that you read about the same amount now as when you were younger? More? Less?
Why?

Answer: I definitely read more now. I could possibly get to over 100 books(!) this year, and I’m absolutely loving it. I loved reading when I was younger, too-particularly when I was a young girl-but generally didn’t have as much time to read then except during the summer.

  • Well for it’s just the other way round;o)

  • pam

100 books! Wow that’s really awesome.

  • I can’t remember ever being unable to read and can’t remember learning to read. I read to my little sister, my dolls and teddies – they were my school! My parents gave me a beautiful limed oak three shelf book case for my treasures. I still have it, my darling husband cleaned, stripped and renovated it an dit contains many of my childhood and young adult reads. Books that have been formative,
inspirational and influential still rest on those shelves.

My love for reading is undiminished – I am reading more widely now.

As a teacher, with young children I read children’s books wide ranging and avidly. I loved encouraging children to enter into the reading world. Quite often they wrote reflective reading journals, I would read then and write back to them, so we shared the puzzles and questions, the joys and sorrows of their books.
When I became a head teacher my reading became squeezed out. I found I was not even reading as many children’s books as previously. Now I have seen the folly of my ways and am once again immersed in the book world! Add to that the fact that I listened to a BBC radio 4 programme in which Librarything.com was featured and I was hooked into the virtual world of book lovers.

  • I read about the same or maybe a bit more. You are right, time constraints are different now than when we are younger. I guess that’s why I might try to say I read more now. I have loved reading all my life and it’s something that I have made a priority when looking at my time and activities.

  • 100 books – that’s something.
I love your library wallpaper by the way!

  • 100 books would be impressive!

  • Hi! I love the new look of your blog! :)
I’m impressed to hear you could read 100 books! Wow, that’s a lot!

  • I’m jealous! I wish I could read 100 books in a year… Lucky!

The new blog scheme is very, very cool.

  • I somehow managed to go over 100 last year, but I think it was a fluke. LOL I don’t usually read quite so much in a year.

  • I’m reading more now too. Happy BTT.

  • I read more now than I used to but doubt I’ll get to 100 this year – that’s impressive!

  • i’m hoping for about 80 books this year – but my goal is next year is 104 (2 a week)!
