Hosted by Bellezza, this challenge lasts from November 30 through January 30. I honestly don’t know if I can complete these, but I’m really going to try because the prizes are spectacular! I’ll choose three from the following:
- A Personal Matter by Kenzaburo Oe
- The Silent Cry by Kenzaburo Oe
- Snow Country by Yasunari Kawabata
- After Dark by Haruki Murakami (NYT Notable book)
- Strangers by Taichi Yamada FINISHED
- Silence by Endo

Now I’ll have to borrow from YOUR list! Many people have mentioned that they’re going to read Snow Country, by Kawabata, so it must be spectacular. Also, Murakami is new to me (which he absolutely shouldn’t be if I’m to consider myself well read!) so it seems he must be included in the challenge. I’m so happy you’re joining! It’s going to be great to talk about these works together!
p.s. I’m so glad you like the prizes!
Oh…I just joined this challenge too!! I’m really excited about it, although I think my books are a little off the mark in some ways. They are more gritty, mystery oriented, instead of the Snow-Flower kind of beautiful!!
Oh well…that’s just who I am!!
Gritty’s good!
I just started reading Snow Country. It’ll be fun to compare thoughts on it if you do read that one.
