I don’t plan on reading any more non-fiction titles this year either, so here’s how I would rank the measly 7! titles I read. Wild Swans also made my Best of 2007 list, and it was easily the best of the bunch. I don’t know if I should increase my non-fiction reading percentage next year or not. If I do, it will probably still be no more than 10% (as opposed to 6-7%) of my reading.
1. Wild Swans ****1/2 by Jung Chang (Best of 2007) (2007 Best Non-Fiction)
2. The Bookseller of Kabul **** by Seierstad (2007 Best Non-Fiction)
3. A Severe Mercy **** by Sheldon Vanauken
4. The Travels of Marco Polo **** by Marco Polo
5. Eat, Pray, Love ***1/2 by Elizabeth Gilbert
6. Blue Like Jazz ***1/2 by Donald Miller
6. The Top Ten: Writers Pick Their Favorite Books ***1/2 by Zane

I wouldn’t be disappointed with only 7. I’m reading a non-fiction book right now….and if I finish by the end of the year, that will only put my tally at 5!! (of course, 2 of them I would consider some of the best books I’ve read all year!)
I haven’t read any on your list though!
You’ve been organizing your books! I made a top ten list, but I like how you’ve categorized the books. Looking forward to the rest of your lists.
Off I go to make more lists.
Seven’s respectable.
(Love the falling snowflakes by the way!)
Stephanie–looking forward to seeing your top ten!
Raidergirl–I want to see yours, too! I do so like making lists.
John–thanks! It took me awhile to figure out how to do the snowflakes, but I like them a lot, too.
OOh I’m going to read Wild Swans next year for a book group! I’m looking forward to it. I need to start thinking about my favorite books of the year!
I hope to read Wild Swans next year and it’s great to see you ranked it at the top.
Can I use this as a submission to the Non-fiction bookworm carnival I’m hosting? It’s just a round up of blog posts on non-fiction.
Let me know!
Yes, Eva, that would be fine. Thanks!
