Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was just as good as the first book, and once again, I didn’t guess the ending, which made me very happy. Moaning Myrtle and Gilderoy Lockhart were great and funny additions to the storyline. As in The Sorcerer’s Stone, I watched the movie right after reading the book. I did enjoy the film, but it was a little anti-climactic after just finishing the book so soon before.
For books 3-5, I decided I’m going to watch the movies first and then read the books. Then with 6 and 7 I’ll read the books first again. My husband and kids are listening to the audio CD’s and enjoying the series as well.

I’ve heard the audio books are great fun, but I’ve never had the chance to listen to them. I plan on re-reading the entire series again sometime. There were those year or so long gaps between the books as they were published and my memory is not the greatest.
I realize it’s a preference thing and to each her own, but I couldn’t imagine seeing the movies before reading the books. I love creating my own images first and then seeing how well the movie matches them. The HP movies have done very well so far.

I’m glad you enjoyed it. I loved Lockheart and thought Kenneth Branagh did a great job in the film. I think the HP books are the only ones I have ever listened to on audio. Stephen Fry reads brilliantly.
Gilderoy Lockhart was a great character nd added a nice element of humor to the books. Then Brannagh made the character himslef, and did such a great job. Keep going, the stories are all so great.
Our family loves the audiobooks. They are great for car trips and really make the time go quickly. Jim Dale does a great job on them.
I love the Harry Potter books. I started reading them when I was still in middle school! When the last two movies come out I plan on listening to them all for the first time.
I am so glad that you’re enjoying them. The audio books are great as well. I love them! I’ve read, and listened, to all the books at least once.
I do HIGHLY recommend though that you read the books before you see the movies. There are some “holes” in the movies that will be filled in for you if you’ve read the books first. And, there’s more of an element of suspence when reading first. Just my opion though! I’m just happy you’re reading them.

Carrie, Ich liebe dich auch!
Carrie and CJ, too late! I’ve already seen through #4, and I’m actually glad I’ve done it this way. It won’t stop me from actually reading the books, though.
Framed, Jim Dale does an outstanding job. I heartily recommend the CDs.
Alix and Raidergirl, Branagh is brilliant. I love him as an actor.
Bookgal, I loved listening to Jim Dale for the first two. I’m probably going to actually read the print versions of the rest, though, just to save time.
Gilderoy Lockhart is great in the film played by Kenneth Branagh. I agree that reading the books first will help more due to gaps.
I actually think it’s a great idea to see the movies first. Don’t get me wrong, I think the movies are great, but I always feel a small let down. There’s so much information and detail in the books that so much has to be left out of the movies. So I think it’s fun to see the movies, get an idea, and then read the book and get so much more!
