Have you ever fallen out of love with a favorite author? Was the last book you read by the author so bad, you broke up with them and haven’t read their work since? Could they ever lure you back?
My answer:
In junior high through college, I loved Stephen King. Couldn’t read enough of him. I guess it’s age and just that my tastes changed, but now I’m officially out of love with him. I read Lisey’s Story last year, and while I thought it was okay, I’m just not into horror anymore.
I can’t take it; but, if you still can, and do love King, and haven’t read Lisey’s Story yet, and want the hardback edition, comment on this post for the book. A hardcover copy, gently read, will be yours. I’m sorry, but I’ll have to restrict this to the continental United States. The winner will be announced on Sunday.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Oh, I love the hearts! I lost that loving feeling for Steve too. (No contest for me. I’m in Canada.)
I never fell outt of love with stephen king, we just drifted apart. I have been meaning to read one of his more recent books, so please enter me!
I have enjoyed some of King’s novels – but not every one. Lisey’s Story was not one of my favorites either. I’m considering reading Duma Key because it’s set near my home in Florida. But I think I’ll wait for the paperback
I LOVED King too. I would rush out to buy his books in hard back. That stopped right after college too. The exception were the Dark Tower Series. If I see a newer King book I haven’t read I might grab it if its in paperback, but it isn’t maniacal like before. There are too many new authors I want to try now. I haven’t read Lisey’s Story so if this is a drawing please enter me too.
I too have enjoyed Stephen King’s works, but they are more to his earlier ones. And our reading preference/mood do change as time goes by…
Please leave me out for the draw since I’m not living in the U.S.
I left out something… BTW, you’re tagged!
You open a contest up to Americans only and the Canadians all line up, what’s up with that?
Anyway, I guess Steve has let a good many of us down. I picked him too.
I feel like I’m having deja vu…check out http://stephaniesbooks.blogspot.com/2008/02/after-honeymoon-booking-through.html
I am seeing King’s name pop up in quite a few places in response to this question. I have only read two of his books so far. One I liked quite a bit (Misery) and one I thought was kind of good but had me laughing when I think I was supposed to be scared (Cell). He’s one of those authors I would like to read again, but I’ll pick and choose which of his books will interest me and skip the rest.
I kind of just stopped reading King although I still like his books. Lisey’s Story is one of the only ones I haven’t read and don’t have. His Richard Bachman books are my favorites though.
Anne Rice is the only author I’ve ever fallen out of love with. Her newer stuff just doesn’t compare to what I grew up loving. She was my first venture into vampires although I’ve since found vampires I like better.
i plan to read king for 888. i have read only one book of his.
pity, i live in india..:D
