And the Pulitzer goes to…

briefwondrous.JPGFor distinguished fiction by an American author, preferably dealing with American life, Ten thousand dollars ($10,000).

Awarded to “The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao” by Junot Diaz (Riverhead Books).

Also nominated as finalists in this category were: “Tree of Smoke” by Denis Johnson (Farrar, Straus and Giroux), and “Shakespeare’s Kitchen” by Lore Segal (The New Press).

Pulitzer Predictions

The Pulitzers will be announced this afternoon. Since there are two finalists announced with the winner, I’m going to give three predictions for the prize in fiction:

  • The Maytrees by Annie Dillard
  • Then We Came to the End by Joshua Ferris
  • The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Díaz

I’ll also post a follow-up entry with the winner’s list after they’re announced.
