I had looked forward to “Memory Keeper,” largely to watch Dermot Mulroney in a serious role. But the script didn’t deliver what it could have. There were so many gaps: events only hinted at; themes undeveloped; personalities unplumbed. And these excellent actors weren’t given a fair opportunity to use their range of talents.
“Memory Keeper” could have been a meatier exploration of personal and familial dynamics, let alone Down Syndrome. All the elements were there to be grasped and aggressively wrestled with! It sadly didn’t deliver the goods.
"For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil." Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? (1 Peter 3:12-13, ESV)
