I had looked forward to “Memory Keeper,” largely to watch Dermot Mulroney in a serious role. But the script didn’t deliver what it could have. There were so many gaps: events only hinted at; themes undeveloped; personalities unplumbed. And these excellent actors weren’t given a fair opportunity to use their range of talents.
“Memory Keeper” could have been a meatier exploration of personal and familial dynamics, let alone Down Syndrome. All the elements were there to be grasped and aggressively wrestled with! It sadly didn’t deliver the goods.
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. (2 Peter 3:9, ESV)
