- Pick up the nearest book. (I’m sure you must have one nearby.)
- Turn to page 123.
- What is the first sentence on the page?
- The last sentence on the page?
- Now . . . connect them together….
(And no, you may not transcribe the entire page of the book–that’s cheating!)
Something boring and horrible: Death, that rapist, who comes in and walks around, and will not say what it is he wants, until he takes it. There was a path, I thought — I really thought that there must be a path — and Liam had wandered off it, and I wasn’t going out there to look for him, not this time.
I didn’t come up with a story for in-between the sentences as I thought these two were interesting enough just to stand on their own merits.
From The Gathering by Anne Enright

Very intriguing sentences, I have heard mixed reviews of this book but these two sentences have caught my interest, so I might give it ago.
I’ve also heard mixed reviews of this book.. I had it on my wish list, then took it off! Maybe I’ll put it back on.
They do stand well on their own.
They sure do! This book is on my TBR list!
Here is my BTT post!
