I’ve seen several people do this lately, but I’m copying Jill who used it for a Sunday Salon. Here’s my list of some of my favorite authors from A-Z. I’ve got a fairly good start to an author index on my site if anyone’s interested. Just go to “Index” in the tabs above.
A - Jane Austen – Persuasion is my favorite
B – Ray Bradbury – Fahrenheit 451
C – Paulo Coelho – The Alchemist and Veronika Decides to Die
D – Kate DiCamillo - The Tale of Despereaux
E – George Eliot – Silas Marner
F – Jasper Fforde – The Eyre Affair
G – Neil Gaiman – Coraline
H – Mark Haddon – The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time
I – Kazou Ishiguro – Never Let Me Go (I plan on reading Remains of the Day soon and expect to like it even better)
J – Henry James – Daisy Miller
K - Sue Monk Kidd – The Secret Life of Bees
L – Lois Lowry – everthing I’ve read by her, but especially The Giver
M – L.M. Montgomery – Anne of Green Gables
N – Irene Nemirovsky – Suite Francaise
O – Scott O’Dell – Island of the Blue Dolphins, Zia, and The Black Pearl
P – Sylvia Plath – The Bell Jar
Q – Anna Quindlen – How Reading Changed My Life and Blessings (I’ll be done soon)
R – Marilynne Robinson – Gilead
S – Betty Smith - A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
T – Tolstoy – Anna Karenina; I also love his short stories
U – Sigrid Undset – Kristin Lavransdatter I: The Wreath
V – Sheldon Vanauken – A Severe Mercy
W – Edith Wharton – Ethan Frome
X – Gao Xingjian – Buying a Fishing Rod for my Grandfather. This is the only ‘X’ author I’ve read. I’m reading Xinran later this year and suspect I’ll like Sky Burial a little better than this one.
Y – Taichi Yamada – Strangers
Z – Markus Zusak/Yevgeny Zamyatin – The Book Thief and We

I like a number of your choices!! It is so nice to “meet” someone else who appreciates Ethan Frome, too! Other favorites — Persuasion, Curious Incident, Gilead, and Never Let Me Know (Remains is on my nightstand right now). Great list!
We share a few, and there are a few I would like to read, namely Lois Lowry and Paulo Coelho. Glad I could inspire your Sunday Salon thread (and I hope Elizabeth sees your list too!). =)
This looks like my reading list of the last year, year and a half. I’ve got lots of similar authors.
Glad to see LM made your list already. It’s hard to imagine you could get two for Z.
I like this! I may give this a try. My problem would be having more than one favorite author with the same letter
I’ve had the Lavransdatter books on my list to read for years now – just can’t bring myself to commit to all those thousands of pages! And I loved A Tree Grows in Brooklyn when I was a teenager – might be time to give it a re-read!
I liked this I may have to do it, I’m impressed you managed the whole alphabet I think I will have clusters!
I like the new header.
I did the same meme this week. I’m amazed you were able to get to specific books. I had to limit myself to authors only. Many on your list made me smile – especially Scott O’Dell, who brings back many happy childhood memories. Thanks for the list!
Woot – You got all the letters! I came up short with Q & X. I hope you’ll enjoy Remains of the Day – it’s one of my all time favorites.
Impressive list!
