Themed Reading Challenge Complete!

This challenge was hosted by Caribousmom.

The goal was to choose at least 4 book with a common theme; mine was to read at least six different languages in translation.

I completed this by reading books originally published in German, Icelandic, Japanese, Hungarian, French, and Italian. I had three books each originally in Hungarian and Japanese, and two originally in French.

My favorites were Silence, The Road Past Altamont, and Strangers.

Thanks, Wendy, for a great challenge!

The books I read:

  1. War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy (Russian)
The Castle by Franz Kafka (German) review to come
  2. Independent People by Laxness (Icelandic)
  3. Silence by Shusaku Endo (Japanese)
  4. Embers by Sandor Marai (Hungarian)
  5. The Road Past Altamont by Gabrielle Roy (French) review to come
  6. Sophie’s World by Jostein Gaarder (Norwegian)
    Silk
    by Alessandro Baricco (Italian)
