I forgot (#%@*&!) to go to Omaha’s Library Sale in early September. I love their sales because the trade paperbacks are alphabetized and only 50 cents. I love it, but I missed it. Oh, well, the next one is in December, and I will be there with book bags.

So anyway, I was excited to go to a library sale closer to where I live yesterday. Disappointing. Kind of pitiful, really. I only came out with three books of any interest and, oh yeah, their trades are $1.00. It wasn’t a total loss, though. I picked up some great books I had on hold, plus these three from the sale:
- In the Woods by Tana French
- On Writing by Stephen King
- The Late George Apley by John P. Marquand (Pulitzer winner in 1938)

On Writing is one of the most enjoyable books of its kind.
And I don’t generally read his fiction. You’ll be glad you bought that one.
$1 is still a good price for trade paperbacks.
Quality, not quantity, at book sales should be the mantra.
Have you read much King? That’s one of the few I haven’t read, but I understand it’s excellent. And nice snag on an early Pulitzer.
You did well, Michelle! I am going to the Redding Library sale this morning. The last one they had was in August and I got there fifteen minutes after it started and it was SWAMPED with people and already picked over. Today, I’m going early! At the last one, I left carrying a box of books so heavy I needed help to my car…and only spent $13. I hope it is as good today *rubs hands together greedily*
I agree with Sandy – On Writing is one of the best books on that topic.
I’ll have to look into that Stephen King book, since it’s gettin such great feedback in your comments.
I haven’t read *In the Woods* either, but it’s on my wish list.
You found some great books this week.
I recently picked up The Late George Apley too. I have it on my nightstand along with Charles Pallisner’s Unburied.
You got one that I want – In the Woods! I consider it a success if you only get one book.
