24 Hour Readathon + Charities

I love participating in Dewey’s readathons.  Although I’m not going to be able to participate the entire time, I should still get about 10 hours of reading time in during the official hours.  I’ll be able to read from 7am CT to 3 or 4pm CT and then perhaps again in the wee hours of Sunday morning.  I’ve decided to give $5 per hour spent reading to two different organizations ($10 per hour total).  The ones I’ve chosen are Operation Christmas Child and the Angel Tree programOperation Christmas Child gives gift-filled shoe boxes to children around the world and Angel Tree gives Christmas presents to children of prisoners.  To learn more, please click on either icon.

Wanna see the books I’ll be reading from?  Here goes!

Friday Finds 10.17.08

Vampire Hunter D by Hideyuki Kikuchi. I found this at Amazon or B&N when I was looking for Japanese reading material. It would fit three challenges for me: Japanese, RIP III, and A-Z (V title).  I have no idea what I’d be getting myself into by reading this title, but it seems it is quite popular and there is even a movie series of it.  I believe there are several books in the series as well.

Death with Interruptions by Jose Saramago.  Saw this at the library and knew I wanted to read it.  BiblioAddict has a great review.

Evening is the Whole Day by Preeta Samarasan. Another one at the library. Logophilia has a very favorable review.
