What a challenge! I’ve been debating with myself as to whether or not to do this, and I’ve decided to give it a try, especially since I’ve already completed the 2008 category! This challenge should work well with the contemporary fiction I want to read next year. Thanks, Michelle!

Except for the pub challenge, I don’t join challenges unless I can complete them from my bookshelf (although I seem to always end up reading other stuff and counting it). Much to my surprise, thanks to the retroactive reviews, I can complete this one with books from my shelf. So I’m in!

Do they count as 2008, if 2008 is the first year in which the particular translation into English becomes available?

Crossovers ARE allowed, and so are young adult and children’s titles.

I didn’t have YA/children’s in the Pub Challenge just because I thought it wouldn’t be appropriate with ‘pub’ in the name.

I like the idea of this, especially since crossover is allowed (right, in addition to the Pub Challenge, is crossover OK?)

I’m assuming that, like the Pub Challenge, no YA titles?

I’m off to check the years of publication for the books I’ve read since 8/8/08 …

I’m not ready for challenges, my reading has been so sporadic and unpredictable, and SLOW. But if I WERE doing challenges, this would be one I would join. I love this idea. We’ll see. Maybe I’ll talk myself into it eventually…But 45 books, at the speed I’m going? I don’t want to set myself up for failure!

999 was just going to be tooooo much. Glad you’re going to finish the 888. I will, too, but I’ve had to change my categories around a lot!

I think Countdown will be a fun challenge.

I LOVE the idea of retroactive. Brilliant. So this looks easy, and fun to do. Published dates could be a bit iffy, right? Depending on where the book was released and all.

And might I add I am glad you decided against the 999. I may have lost my mind on that one. I am 1.5 books away from completing the 888 challenge. woo hoo!

Now I have to go find out how many books I’ve already read for the countdown challenge. See? That’s a fun way to begin a challenge.
