This was a gigantic challenge!!! I decided NOT to have any overlaps. So, I had 64 unique books — 8 different books in 8 different categories. I’m not doing a 999 challenge, but I’m glad I was able to complete the 888 challenge. The only challenge harder than this one to complete will be the A-Z, but I have only five more titles on that one so will probably be able to complete it.
I’m happiest about all the world literature on this list! Particularly the languages in translation. Reading eight different female Canadian authors was fun, too.

congratulations! that seems like one awesome feat!:) i just came across the 999 challenge today and i am still debating as to whether i should participate in it or not.. your list definitely does inspire me!:)
Well, how on earth did I miss that Sara Gruen was Canadian. I read Water for Elephants last year. I apparently didn’t read the author bio!
Congrats on finishing! I could never do a challenge like this, I can’t stick to lists!
Congratulations on finishing the challenge. That was a huge undertaking.
Wow!! Congratulations!! I’ve made a mess out of this one. I applaude anyone who gets it done!
Lezlie
Wow, congratulations, Michelle!!!
Wow you deserve an award! I am NOWHERE NEAR finishing and I had TONS of overlaps!
Congrats, very impressive. I am thinking about doing 999, but it is a lot of books. I will have to come up with 9 divisions of easy to read books! Will have a look at your countdown list but not sure I want to committ to 9 published in 2009.
Thanks, everyone!!! It was fun to be able to complete it.
