13 books about or by Canadians
One of my favorite challenges! The books I enjoyed the most were the Montgomery titles, the play by MacDonald, Atmospheric Disturbances, Fugitive Pieces, and The Tricking of Freya.
Thanks, John, for hosting again. I’ll probably participate each time until I get my fill of Atwood, Shields, Montgomery, and the many other fantastic Canadian authors!
- Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood
- Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) by Anne-Marie MacDonald
- The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson
- Atmospheric Disturbances by Rivka Galchen (shortlisted for Governor General’s Award)
- Anne of Avonlea by L.M. Montgomery
- Anne of the Island by L.M. Montgomery
- A Certain Mr. Takahashi by Ann Ireland
- Fugitive Pieces by Anne Michaels
- Natasha and Other Stories by David Bezmozgis
- The End of the Alphabet by C.S. Richardson
- Mistik Lake by Martha Brooks
- Yarrow by Charles de Lint
- The Tricking of Freya by Christina Sunley
- Skim by Mariko Tamaki and Jillian Tamaki

This is one of my favourite challenges too, I read so much Canlit anyway. I read and enjoyed The Gargoyle, Atmospheric Disturbances, and The End of the Alphabet too. I still have to write my wrap up post. I can’t wait for John’s wrap up post, I wonder if we made 1000 books.
I read 26 for the challenge, although I did not review them all.
26, wow! Congrats, Sandra!
Congrats on finishing! I just posted my ‘finished’ post for this challenge, one of my favourites as well. Can’t wait for John’s wrap-up! Of the ones you have listed, I’ve read 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 & 11. So much great CanLit out there to share, isn’t there?
Thanks, Melanie, congrats to you as well! Yes, I’m so glad I am discovering more CanLit thanks to John’s challenges!
Wow! congrats! I never did this one! Maybe next time!
Congrats Michelle!
Congrats on finishing your challenge! I just read your review of the Tricking of Freya and that sounds wonderful.
Veens, Teddy, and Iliana, thanks, it really is one of my favorite challenges!
I’ve only read 1 and 9, but can’t wait to read 3 and 14.
