Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

eclipseI read Eclipse pretty much straight through in one sitting the day after finishing New Moon. These books are addicting, if nothing else. I liked these two books the best of the four, and I couldn’t read fast enough. Since so many have already read the book, this post will contain spoilers.

Eclipse was a fun one, what with the Edward/Jacob rivalry heating up even more. I especially enjoyed the tent scenes. Teenage love and angst at its best. I thought it was a little weird, though, that Bella wanted to be with Edward forever but resisted marrying him. What’s the difference when it comes down to it? I also really felt for Jacob in this one. I’m not really ‘Team Jacob,’ though, but in some ways I’m not ‘Team Edward,’ either. If you had to pin me down I’d have to say that I was ‘Team Bella’ in the sense that I’m rooting for her to realize and attain what she really wants for herself. Sometimes that’s the hardest thing in life to do — figuring out what one really wants.

  • I liked the two middle books in the series best, too. I like what you said about “Team Bella” – although I didn’t love her as a character, what I wanted most out of the series was for her to just figure it out. :) Although by the end of book 4, I can say that I was convinced of the Team Edward perspective of things – I think Meyer really changed his character, or at least my perception of his character, in the last book.

  • It’s always great when you can find a book series to lose yourself in!

  • If you are Team Bella, you will love Breaking Dawn, although I should warn you that it tends to be the most polarizing of the four books. It is a bit unusual as to the twists and turns it takes, but I personally love to see Bella grow into the person she was meant to be. Although, I agree that Eclipse is by far my favorite of the four. I don’t understand why Bella was so hesitant to marry Edward either.

  • This one was my favorite of the four. I thought the overall story came together a lot better in this one and it had more action, which I tend to prefer. I’m glad you enjoyed it, Michelle!

  • I didn’t read that post coz of spoilers, I need to read New Moon and this and the next! hmm!

  • Eclipse was my favorite. I didn’t really like BD so I would have been happy if the series ended with Eclipse.

  • When it comes to the Twilight series, I thought the first book was strongest and Eclipse was the next strongest. New Moon and Breaking Dawn both lost me. I think your thoughts about “Team Bella” were interesting. Something about her in Eclipse bugged me, maybe she just seemed too whiny, but I still rooted for her.

I loved all the books. I would have to say Eclipse and Breaking Dawn are my favorite of the four. I can not choose just one. I am addicting to this series which is funny becuase I have NEVER been one to read or even like reading, but I read these books in no time! I love Edward all the way!
