I agree, the writing isn't on par with something like The Giver, but yet it's steps above something like Twilight. The names did bug me, I could never remember the characters names afterwards because they were strange. I liked how the romance was handled, because I could relate to her mixed feelings about these two guys, how she was always comparing her district-mate (see, the name thing again) with Gale. I read it during the readathon as well, and I loved it while I was reading. I could not put it down, which was perfect for the readathon. The romance bothered me too; the love triangle came out of nowhere for me (and also was clearly setting up the next events in the trilogy.) It was a great ride, but I'm not sure it was a great book.
