I’m so far behind in reading blogs and in my own reading this year. Life definitely has gotten in the way. I haven’t read half of what I usually do, but I have read a few young adult books so far and enjoyed them. Among others, I’ve read the first two books in the Percy Jackson
series, and the first three books in the Uglies
series by Scott Westerfeld, but my favorite book of the year so far is Unwind
by Neal Shusterman. Truly outstanding — I highly recommend it.
But, now I need some recommendations as I’ve been so far out of the loop. They don’t have to be young adult books, though of course I enjoy them. If you can recommend 2-3 titles that are your top reads of the year so far, I’d really appreciate it. After a few stressful months, I’m ready to get back in the reading and review writing groove.
On the personal front, we finally sold our house in Kentucky after nearly 3 years. It has been stressful to say the least to have two house payments for that long. I’ve also been job hunting for the past 6 months or so with no luck at all, so that only added to the stress level. However, things now are looking up, so bring on the books!
Thanks in advance for the recommendations, and I can’t wait to start reading your blogs again!

I just read The Hunger Games in January, which I LOVED. I also really enjoyed The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen.
Three very different books:
The Agency 1: A Spy in the House by Y.S. Lee

In a Heartbeat by Loretta Ellsworth

A Whole Nother Story by Dr. Cuthbert Soup
And a bonus adult book–I’m listening to it on audio, not finished yet–Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde
The Betrayal of the Blood Lily by Lauren Willig
the Clouds Roll Away by Sibella Giorello
After Dark by Haruki Murakami
Almost Home by Pam Jenoff
Not sure if you have read any of these yet but I liked all of them. Happy Spring Reading.
Great to see you again and glad to hear that life is easing up a bit.
Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand and The Unnamed are my favorite books so far this year. She Got Up Off the Couch was also a great memoir.
Graceling by Kirsten Kashore
&
Freaks by Annette Curtis Klause
Are probably my two favourite reads this year.
Welcome back!
Some of the best books I’ve read this year have been: Sugar by Bernice McFadden, River’s Edge by Marie Bostwick, How to Talk to a Widower by Jonathan Tropper, and Fault Lines by Nancy Huston. They are all pretty different!
3 years?! That’s such a long time. I’m glad it’s sold and you can move on. It’s great to have you back. A few of the books I’ve loved so far this year are This is Water by David Foster Wallace, Committed by Elizabeth Gilbert, and The Help by Kathryn Stockett.
Hunger Games and Catching Fire
Guardian (Julian Lester)
Freaks and Revelations (Hurwin)
Wow, that is such a long time! Must be such a relief to finally move on!
Favourites of the year? Hard to say. I don’t read very many current books, but..
Nation by Terry Pratchett? Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman? Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld?
I loved “The Color of Water” by: James McBride. This may sound silly, but I also liked “The Host” by: Stephenie Meyer. I really liked how it made me think about “What would happen if…”. Enjoy! It’s great to see you posting again!
Hey! That’s good news! I kept on wondering, what happened to u
I am sure everything will be better now that the bad phase is over!
And ook front.. i have not read much really so I am not going to suggest! Hope you have a good day and year ahead!
Hunger Games for me too. And The Wood Wife by Terri Windling, fabulous book.
I have read so many good books that it’s hard to just single out 3. Here they are: Ice Land by Betsy Tobin, The Paris Vendetta by Steve Berry and Grave Goods by Ariana Franklin.
There are so many good books that I have read this year, and so many disappointments. But lets get to the good oens first.
I loved: Spirit Bound Book 5 of the Vampire Academy Series By Richelle Mean, a fanastic series that is highly addictive!
I also enjoyed The Lovely Bones By Alice Sebold, a really powerful book which had me up til the wee hours. I also enjoyed Twice Bitten By Chloe Neill, another brilliant series that does not disappoint but only gets better.
