Thanks SO MUCH to all those who participated in Books for the Heart! If you blog, please use Mr. Linky below to link to your wrap-up post. If you don’t blog or don’t want to post about it but you did participate, please do post in the comments. It’s not a requirement, but I’d love to hear how much you donated, and to what organization.
Thanks again!

Thanks to all of you who are participating in Books for the Heart!! At last count, there were 16 people reading books for this event. There is still time to join for anyone who is interested in this fundraiser for The American Heart Association (or your own nation’s heart organization). Just click on the icon for more info and comment or use Mr. Linky to sign up.
I’ve read these books so far:
- Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer
- Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto
- The Reader by Bernard Schlink
- Morality for Beautiful Girls by Alexander McCall Smith
I planned on donating $2 for every participant and $5 for every book I read up to a maximum of $100. My money will go to the association in memory of my dad. So I’m up to $52 so far. You choose how you’ll donate!
I will set up a Mr. Linky on February 14th for you to link to your wrap-up post. If you don’t have a blog, please use the comments to tell us how you did. I’ll look forward to your posts!
Thanks again to those who are participating!

Just a little reminder that I’m hosting a fundraiser for the American Heart Association (or your own country’s heart association) during the first two weeks of February. You can sign up and/or find out more info by clicking on the icon to the right.
You decide how much to give and you give the money yourself. I’d love for us to raise a lot of money for this great cause, so please consider participating!

Fifteen years ago,my father died at the young age of 44 while waiting for a heart transplant. Chances are, you too have someone in your family who has died or suffered from a heart-related illness. Heart disease is the #1 killer of both men and women in the United States. Further, women account for 52.8% of all heart disease related deaths!
This purpose of the reading event Books for the Heart is to raise money for the American Heart Association and/or to honor a loved one. [Edit: if you live outside of the United States you can donate to the major heart organization of your own country!] There are many ways to participate. You can sponsor yourself and donate a certain amount of money for every book you read or every page you read during February 1-14. You can ask for sponsors. You can donate a set amount. You can donate in a loved one’s name. It doesn’t really matter which books you read, but I do ask that by participating you commit to donating a minimum of $5 to the American Heart Association. Other than that, you decide on how you’ll participate. I plan on donating $5 for each of the books that I read and $2 for every participant in this event, up to a maximum of $100.
I hope you’ll join me!
