About

3M and her brother; Christmas 1971

1morechapter.com is dedicated primarily to books and the reading life, and is owned by 3M, otherwise known as Michelle by friends and family. A former engineer, math teacher, and English teacher, I am also the mother of two teenage sons and have been married for 19 years.

I really enjoy being part of the book blogging community and participating in reading challenges. In addition to reading, I like to watch sci-fi TV and movies with my family. I also like to travel, play card/board games, and watch Denver Broncos football.

I have always been an avid reader. When I was a young girl, my mother would ask me to set the table or do some other chore and I’d always ask, “Just one more chapter?!” That childhood memory was the inspiration for the title of this site.

  • Hi there, Just wanted to let you know that one of the other Canadian Book Challenge participants is a fellow named Steve Zipp who recently wrote a book entitled Yellowknife. He’s looking to send other participants a copy. If you’re interested you can read this http://stevezipp.blogspot.com/2007/10/canadian-book-challenge.html for the details.

Wow–I just checked out your 2007 reading list; I can’t believe I’ve found somebody who reads even more than I do! I’ve put your site on my Favorites list, and I am looking forward to reading through 2008 with you!

  • 3M

Thanks, Michelle! (And I’m a Michelle, too!)

  • HI Michelle – I love the background to your site! and like you, I am discovering the world of book bloggers online, and it’s true, they feel like friends when we chat about books! So…..i’ve added you to my bookmarks, and will add this site to mine, since I already have you as 3M for the book challenge. Anyway, I hope you have a Merry Christmas and so sorry about your flooded basement. It’s pouring rain here in Ottawa after our record snowstorm last week – 1 foot and a half of snow in one day! – and I’m hoping that as the water runs down our street and into our driveway, the sewer won’t back up. Now I have to go do my list for worst reads of this year, which I haven’t done yet……Happy reading in 2008 to all of us!!

  • Your last line made me laugh; I used to say to my mom: “one more page!” or even “just let me finish this paragraph!” and then go on as long as I could.

Michelle, I just found your blog today and have already enjoyed what I’ve read. I was wondering were you found your book/bookshelf graphics? It looks great.

    thanks,
    adam

  • What a gorgeous web design! I love the background! I’ve always been an obsessive avid reader also and am trying to turn my kids into avid readers also, lol!

When will you be reading, “Swish: Maria in the Mourning?” There are 23 five-star reviews on Amazon.com

  • Michelle,

First off – thank you so much for your contributions to the reading community!

I was looking for your e-mail, but I couldn’t ifnd it, so I figured a comment would be good enough. Would you be interested in doing an interview for the BookSwim.com blog “The Literary Life”? I’m interviewing book reviewers, authors, and book reviewers to give our members a 360 view on reading. Your blog is of interest to our readers so I thought that our readers may want to get to know you better before I provide them links to follow you.

Please contact me back if you are interested.
    Thank you
    -Nick

  • Hello Michelle – I’m Fiona and I’m a novelist from the UK published by Snowbooks.

I’m getting in touch to invite you to take part in my ‘Blogsplash’ next March, when 1000 blogs will simultaneously post the first page of my novel, Thaw. The novel will be published online in its entirety over the following three months as a bit of an experiment.

You can find out more at http://www.fionarobyn.com/thawblogsplash.htm, and if you have any other cunning marketing ideas I’d be very happy to hear them.

    Thanks for your time,
    Warmest,
    Fiona

I just found your blog as I searched for information about the author Xinran, and her book Sky Burial. I loved this book and Xinran’s other book, The Good Women of China.
I will definitely refer to your book lists and reviews from now on, especially now that our winter rains have commenced and I anticipate spending more hours inside.

  • Hi Michelle

You have built an awesome site here, and I’d like to invite you to bring your talent and love of books to http://www.bookdrum.com, where you can add information, images, video, music and links to illustrate and explore your favorite books.

Right now, there’s $3,000 of prizes to be won in the Book Drum Tournament. I do hope you’ll want to enter.

    Very best
